In her lively and informative presentation, author and certified teacher, Barbara Garriel takes students on a journey to follow the development of a creative idea into a finished book.  She shows the extension of the creative process by sharing and performing the original song she wrote and produced, which accompanies her picture book.  For older students, Barbara emphasizes the importance of revision and shares samples of her works in progress.

 

Barbara incorporates visual aids to enhance her presentation, such as early drafts and illustrator’s sketches, press proofs, first bound copies, poster-sized illustrations, a puppet and magnetic illustrations. The author tailors her program to meet the ages and needs of the particular audience and setting and encourages audience participation.  The presentation is available using Power Point.
