Presentations
Barbara offers dynamic, educational, and age appropriate presentations and writing workshops designed for students Pre-K to 12, educators, and adults of all ages.
Schools and libraries invite Barbara to share her presentations to inform and inspire students of all ages to be avid writers and readers. Her WRITE OUT LOUD! programs provide a look into the world of fiction and non-fiction writing and publishing, from idea to finished product. SING AND READ OUT LOUD! combines literacy and music to engage young readers.
These multi-sensory programs are offered in a PowerPoint format with vivid examples and illustrations, age-appropriate props, samples of the author’s work, press proofs, and final copies.
The professional development programs for educators support and complement the curriculum, with topics such as launching a writers’ workshop, creating literacy backpacks for a home-school connection, and using music as an integral part of a literacy program. Her public programs are engaging and entertaining, with topics including Creative Writing and Introduction to Bird Watching.
Barbara works with individual classes, grade-levels, assemblies, and offers residencies. She presents her programs in schools, libraries, summer camps, museums, and other public venues and for groups, such as Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Adult Education.
